Implementation Consultant
What will I be doing?
The Implementation Consultant/TPM will join the Implementation Services Team and will provide services to customers such as consulting, system analysis, configuration, (web-)trainings, workshops, implementation assistance and customer guidance as part of a project team led by an Ex Libris Project Manager. For selected implementations the Implementation Consultant/TPM will take responsibility for full project delivery including project management and execution.
The position includes technical aspects as well as an intense consulting part regarding workflows, configuration decisions and migration questions in direct communication with our customers. Ongoing work with different stakeholders within Ex Libris such as Professional Services Teams in other regions, Global Support Teams, Cloud Team or Product Management are also part of the role.
In this position, you will also…
- Implementation and consultancy responsibilities:
- Conduct system and data analysis as part of Ex Libris product implementations
- Perform Ex Libris product configuration based on customer’s requirements
- Interpret and understand customer requirements and workflows and translate into solutions
- Analyze and troubleshoot customer issues and requests
- Provide consulting, guidance and assistance to customers during the project life cycle to ensure a successful implementation and high customer satisfaction
- Train customers in Ex Libris products, web-based or via on-site workshops, and provide knowledge transfer and support for workflow and configuration decisions
- Coordinate implementation activities with project managers and others in the Professional Services organization, as well as with other global Ex Libris teams
- Carry out post-implementation consulting services to ensure client satisfaction
- Project management responsibilities:
- Provide project management for selected projects
- Take responsibility for project planning, monitoring, tracking, communication, reporting, risk management and escalations.
- Coordinate all implementation tasks and other project work with the customer
- Cooperate with other Ex Libris teams, e.g., Cloud Services, Data Migration Team, Support, Sales and Product Management
- Other responsibilities:
- Use defined procedures and systems to perform and document implementation tasks
- Contribute to the development and improvement of standard procedures and tools as needed
- Support our customers in customizing the product user interfaces through HTML and CSS
- Occasional travel will be required
- Other responsibilities as appropriate

Qualified Candidates must have…
- Bachelors’ degree or higher in a related field plus ideally at least 1-year related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Familiarity with workflows in the sector of Higher Education, e.g., Information Management, Electronic Resources and/or Library Management
- Computer proficiency and overall technical aptitude
- Excellent trouble-shooting and analytical skills, with a strong solution-oriented work approach
- Good knowledge of web-based information systems and familiarity industry standards relevant in the HE and academic market, e.g., metadata standards and experience working with MARC, Dublin Core and/or other metadata standards used in the library and information markets.
- Demonstrated ability to manage several complex tasks concurrently and meet deadlines
- Ability to learn new information quickly and keep up with rapidly changing products and processes
- Proactive, well-organized team player with an agile and independent approach to work
- Ability to work in virtual teams, spread over various locations in Europe
- Experience in project management and related certifications are a plus
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability in carrying out web-based or on-site training sessions and presentations.
- Readiness to travel
Required languages:
o Fluent in English and Spanish (written and spoken)
o Additional European languages are a clear advantage
Superstar Candidates May Also Have…
- Masters’ degree in Library Science
- Familiarity with the global research landscape and background in academic research processes in higher education or publishing industry
- Working knowledge of Ex Libris products highly valued
- Good knowledge of HTML & CSS
- Experience of JavaScript, AngularJS, XML and XSL is a plus
- Familiar with Oracle Business Intelligence
- Practical knowledge of Dublin Core
- PMP or Prince II certification

Other important information about this position:
- This position may be based in a variety of Ex Libris/ProQuest office locations although Madrid is preferred and may be appropriate for full or partial remote work, subject to approval.
- Occasional travel is required
- This position requires weekday (Monday – Friday) attendance with some scheduling flexibility available around core working hours.
